Our History

R. G. Wilbrey was founded in 1964 by Roy Wilbrey based at his home in Wolverhampton. Roy’s background as a Chartered Engineer and Factory Inspector provided a deep understanding of the needs for employers to comply with the legislation surrounding Health and Safety in the workplace.


The business developed with the main purpose of giving effective support to employers.

Roy developed strong partnerships with many clients, many of which R.G. Wilbrey are still supporting today. Our purpose built headquarters in Wolverhampton provide the hub of the operations for our directly employed consultants/advisers.

Our Commitment

Successful contract delivery is the satisfactory completion of construction projects with year on year reduced accident rates. This can be achieved by the use of our extensive resources to ensure that the right information gets to the right people at the right time. This will ensure that sufficient time is given to all parties to plan, prepare and carry out their duties.

Quality Assurance

R G Wilbrey provide a stringent quality assurance programme which is supported by ISO 9001. Our consultants are given an extensive induction into the company over the first month of their employment; this is a minimum time period and may be extended for some employees.


Our consultants then undergo regular reviews including desk top reviews of their work, accompanied visits/meetings, and unaccompanied appraisals (involving a senior member of staff assessing site conditions shortly after a consultants visit). We regularly hold CPD events, Training sessions and consultants’ meetings.


We are ISO 9001 accredited and always strive to improve our processes and

procedures to offer ever higher standards of service to our clients.


R G Wilbrey have extensive experience in the trial and review of many Modern Methods of Construction and have had experience on many working parties set up to determine the effectiveness of these methods for not only cost and time efficiency but also the safety implications on systems of work.

Staff Training

We recognise that as a company we are only as good as our staff and therefore place great importance on their training. All new appointees receive extensive instruction and training relevant to their job description and level of experience.


All our consultants are holders of, or studying toward, NEBOSH qualifications, Diploma in Safety Management or NVQ Level 5 and are encouraged to join relevant professional bodies.

Participation in continuing professional development is required of all consultants through our in-house sessions held 6 times a year and attendance at events provided by professional bodies

is encouraged.
